Off-Grid Power Systems

Integrated Power Systems for Remote Homes, Resorts & Commercial Sites

Off-Grid Power for Properties Where Standard Solutions Don't Work

Kingsley Power designs and integrates off-grid power systems for remote homes, cabins, resorts, commercial properties, research facilities and other sites throughout Vancouver Island and Coastal British Columbia.

These are not simply solar installations. A reliable off-grid system may need to bring together solar, hydroelectric generation, batteries, inverter/chargers, generators, electrical distribution, controls, communications and automated load management into one complete system.

Every project starts with the property itself. How much power does it actually use? What are the largest loads? How will the site be accessed? What energy sources are available? What happens during several days of poor solar production? Can equipment be monitored and serviced remotely?

Kingsley Power designs around those questions rather than trying to fit every property into the same equipment package.

Systems may incorporate:

    • Solar and micro-hydro generation
    • Victron inverter/charger systems
    • LiFePO4 battery storage
    • Diesel or propane generator integration
    • Automatic generator control
    • AC and DC electrical distribution
    • Load shedding and opportunity-load control
    • Remote monitoring and troubleshooting
    • Pumps, motors and other demanding electrical loads
    • Communications, networking and remote site monitoring

The goal is not simply to produce electricity. It is to build a power system that can reliably operate the property it was designed for.

Your Property Determines the System

A remote cabin, year-round home, lodge or commercial facility can have very different power requirements. Kingsley Power designs each system around the property's actual loads, available energy sources and operating needs.

We consider:

    • Electrical loads including pumps, motors, refrigeration and other demanding equipment
    • Energy sources including solar, hydro and generators
    • Battery storage based on consumption and required autonomy
    • Backup generation including sizing, charging and automatic operation
    • Controls & automation for load management and efficient use of available energy
    • Remote monitoring for system oversight and troubleshooting

Kingsley Power brings these components together as one integrated power system, designed around how your property actually operates.

Designed for Remote Properties

Remote power design involves more than electrical calculations. Equipment must reach the property, perform reliably and remain practical to maintain when service may be hours away.

Kingsley Power works throughout Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and Coastal British Columbia, including boat-access-only properties.

Remote-site considerations can include:

    • Difficult and boat-only access
    • Equipment transport and installation
    • Coastal and marine environments
    • Generator fuel and operating requirements
    • Year-round or seasonal use
    • Parts availability and serviceability
    • Communications and remote monitoring
    • Redundancy for critical systems

A remote power system should be designed for long-term operation, maintenance and support, not just initial installation. Kingsley Power considers those realities from the start.

Start With a Proper Assessment

Have a Challenging Off-Grid Project?

If you're developing, upgrading or troubleshooting a remote power system, Kingsley Power can assess the property, electrical loads, available energy sources and operating requirements before recommending an approach.

Local Site Assessment & System Consultation

Starting at $1,000

For properties within approximately one hour of Kingsley Power. Includes an on-site assessment of the property, electrical requirements and potential system approach.

Remote & Boat-Access Site Assessment

Starting at $3,500

For remote and boat-access properties requiring additional travel and planning. Includes site assessment, load evaluation, system component selection and design.

Your consultation has value beyond the assessment. If Kingsley Power is retained to build the resulting system, the consultation fee can be applied toward the project.
